David Morris MP has today said that a collision between a ship and a wind turbine at Walney on Thursday morning caused him “great concern” and has praised the coastguard and lifeboat crews.
The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP who is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Coastal and Marine group said:
“It causes me great concern that a ship has collided with a wind turbine. For a long time I have said that turbines should be situated well away from shipping lanes. It was just a matter of time until an incident like this, thankfully nobody has been injured.
“Thank you to the Liverpool coastguard and the lifeboat crews who do a magnificent job often in challenging conditions as was the case on Thursday morning.”
