On March the 26th at 8 pm the Winter Gardens in Morecambe will host the first rock concert in over 35 years as rock and blues legend Bernie Marsden will take to the stage with an all-star band for a charity fundraiser for the winter gardens heating system.
Organised by David Morris MP and sponsored by members of the business the community. All proceeds will go to the Winter Gardens. This is in response to Lancaster City Council not helping the venue.
The local MP asked his old friend Bernie for help who has just had a number 1 album "Shine" and was the guitarist in Whitesnake and wrote most of their major anthems including the worldwide no 1 "Here I go again".
David Morris said "As the Council will not help, it's great an old mate can help having just come back from the states supporting and mentoring guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa on his stateside tour.
Bernie and David who was a session musician have played for charity together in the past"
All of the musical equipment is loaned by Dave Wood and Rossi at promenade Music. English lakes Hotels have also sponsored the bands stay.
Evelyn Archer from friends of the Winter Gardens Trust said "as the City Council didn't support us, we will find different ways of raising the cash for a new heating system and I'm sure the whole community will come and support us. We've lost the Dome and if they close down the Platform, the only venue in town is our Winter gardens let's support it."
