Today Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Iain Duncan Smith visited I2I,at Riverway House. I2I are a work programme provider and Iain spoke to staff and clients about how the work programme was effecting people who are on JSA.
The staff at I2I showed Iain around their offices and he met a group of people who were in a session at the beginning of the programme with local employer Lee McNae. Iain heard from clients about how the staff at i2i were helping them find employment.
Iain was also given some Magma hot sauce from the staff which is a business that has been set up by a local lad when he was on the work programme with the help of staff. He is now selling his product full time.
David Morris, Conservative candidate for Morecambe and Lunesdale said; ‘it was great to show Iain the fantastic work the staff at I2I do, we share an office in Riverway House and I am always talking to staff on the way in about how well they have been doing getting their clients back into work. As their team work under the direction of the DWP it was a good opportunity for them to be able to show Iain how they are helping clients’
