The National Funding formula, which comes into effect in April 2018 will ensure that schools in Morecambe and Lunesdale all receive an increase in funding.
The National funding formula is being introduced to end the historic postcode lottery which created huge differences in funding between similar Schools in different parts of the Country. The Government are boosting the core schools funding budget by £1.3 billion to ensure that the manifesto commitment that no school should loose funding under the new formula is honoured, with all schools in Morecambe and Lunesdale receiving an increase.
Speaking following the publication of the individual funding allocations David Morris MP said:
‘I am delighted to see that it has now been confirmed that no school in my Constituency will receive a cut in funding as a result of the fair funding formula. There was a lot of misinformation surrounding schools funding from Union groups over the past 12 months, and today’s news shows that was nothing more than scaremongering.
Schools in Morecambe and Lunesdale on average will receive a 2.6% increase in funding with the School with the largest increase receiving an 8.6% increase.
It is vitally important the calls from the profession have been heard and the end to the postcode lottery of Schools funding and that children in ever part of the Country have the chance to have the same world class education’
