On Saturday the Community gathered in Happy Mount Park at the flower bed of remembrance to scatter poppy seeds for this year’s world war one anniversary.
People from all over the area flocked to Happy Mount Park to participate in a memorial service led by Torrisholme Methodist Church.
David Morris, Conservative Candidate for Morecambe and Lunesdale, led the service by reading the poem in Flanders Fields. The crowd then scattered poppy seeds, led by young Poppy who has become the Poppyscatters mascot, on the flower bed which will bloom in time for remembrance anniversaries in August.
Speaking after the ceremony David Morris said ;
‘Steve Trainor has done a fantastic job organising the poppy scatter to run for another year, and I was honoured to be asked to read the poem in Flanders Fields at the service. From raising Steve’s idea of a poppy scatter in Parliament, more constituencies across the Country are taking up the idea and remembering the fallen’.
