The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has swapped his suit and tie for overalls, salt & vinegar.
David Morris MP visited the Tarnbrook chip shop to congratulate owner John Wild who has been awarded the prestigious National Fish Friers Federation Fish & Chip Quality Award for a second time.
The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) is the trade body representing the nation’s fish and chip shops. The NFFF runs the Quality Award scheme as a way of raising standards within the fish and chip trade and enhancing the profile of the industry.
The scheme is a way of rewarding shops owners that provide good quality products and high standards of hygiene, as well as fish & chip shop owners who show a high level of competence.
David Morris put on some overalls and was taught by the staff at the Tarnbrook chippy how to cook the perfect fish and chips.
David Morris MP said:
“I would like to congratulate John and his team on this award, I’ve known John for a long time and the Tarnbrook chippy is known for its excellent food. When I was cooking with the staff at the Tarnbrook, the first thing I noticed was how involved the process of cooking the perfect fish and chips is, the fish has to be battered to John’s high standards and the chips cooked at the correct temperature for the correct period of time.”
John Wild said:
“We are pleased to have won this national award. We work extremely hard here at the Tarnbrook Chippy to ensure that the quality of our food is of the highest standard and to be recognised as serving the best quality fish & chips in the area is great news.”
“David Morris MP is presenting us with the award, and we are grateful that David is doing this, and for the support that he gives to local businesses.”
