The Minister for Government Policy Rt. Hon. Oliver Letwin MP, visited SHP Ltd. on the White Lund Industrial Estate on Monday morning.
Mr. Letwin’s visit comes just days after the Prime Minister visited another business on the White Lund Estate on Friday afternoon, to officially announce that the Heysham M6 Link Road will go ahead and be built.
SHP perform recycling of computer equipment, mobile phones and other electronic devices for small businesses right through to blue chip companies. SHP are based in the Old Reebok building. The business started off as a great idea in a garage.
Speaking from SHP Ltd. Rt. Hon. Oliver Letwin MP said:
“It’s a fantastic business, like all the best ideas in business it is very straight forward and simple but it’s very ingenious and it’s extraordinarily efficient, it’s about the most complete case of recycling I think I have ever seen of anything.”
“The most impressive thing is it all started in that garage, not much more than ten years ago and now it’s a major business turning over £4 Million a year and making a healthy profit, with significant exports, it’s a real example of what we can do in Britain.”
David Morris MP said:
“It’s a niche business and demonstrates how Morecambe and surrounding areas in the business community is changing.”
“SHP is right next to the new road and is a success story, built out of seeing a direction to go in before everybody else and it demonstrates how the community in Morecambe are, we’re very resilient, and with the new regeneration prospects with the new power station on its way in the next ten years, Morecambe is open for business.”
