David Morris MP has welcomed the news that more than 45 previously unemployed people have been employed by construction company Costain on the Heysham M6 Link project. Seven of those employed have been taken on by Costain on a permanent basis.
When the Prime Minister announced that the Heysham M6 Link Road will be built last year he said that local businesses regard the road as a “game changer.” It was also predicted that the £124.5 Million project would employ previously unemployed people.
David Morris MP said:
“It is really very good news that so many previously unemployed people have been employed on this important infrastructure project. This means that more than 45 people who were previously not bringing home a pay packet are now and it is good news. I also know of a number of businesses who are expanding as a result of the Prime Minister’s commitment to build the road which means more people will be employed as a result of the road being built.”
The news comes just weeks after the Office of National Statistics reported that unemployemt is falling in Morecambe & Lunesdale.
