Lancashire MP's David Morris MP and Mark Menzies MP attended the 11th November Remembrance service at Wayne's Keep in Cyprus on Friday. The ceremony to mark the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month when World War One ended, was being hosted by the British contingent of the UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus, the 4th Battalion Duke of Lancaster Regiment.
Wayne's keep is situated in the UN buffer zone in Cyprus and hosts graves of British Service personnel who died in Cyprus.
Speaking after the service David Morris MP said:
I would like to thank Lt Col T Royce for hosting us at what was a very special remembrance service on Friday. Not only was it important to be there to honour our war dead in Cyprus but it was particularly special to share the event with a local regiment.
Speaking to the Lt Col he told us that Remembrance Day commemorations are often difficult times for serving members of the armed forces as it is time to reflect and remember their fallen friends and colleagues. I felt privileged to share the day with our local regiment and to show them how proud we are of their service for our country and our community.
