Today in the House of Commons Chamber the EU referendum private Members Bill put forward by Bob Neill MP will have its second reading. David Morris MP who supported James Wharton’s MP’s bill of the same nature last year before the Lords threw it out, has again put on record his support for a referendum.
Intervening on the Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond MP, David Morris MP said:
‘ Would my Right Honourable Friend agree with me that it is my generation that have never had a say in whether we should be in the European Union and my constituents would wholeheartedly endorse what we are trying to do on this side of the benches’
In response Phillip Hammond MP said:
‘ I absolutely take my Hon friend’s point. I only just scraped in old enough to vote in the last European Referendum we had on the European Union, my first ever vote. There is a whole generation never been consulted on this issue and is entitled to have their say.’
