The Government Minister and Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party Grant Shapps has been visiting Carnforth and Mr. Shapps has said that the district leads the way.
Grant Shapps visited Havwoods flooring at the request of Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris.
Havwoods is a family business who supply flooring from Carnforth to big companies such as Pret a Manger, Starbucks and Jamie Oliver’s Restaurants. Havwoods also have a significant export business having recently opened a branch in Australia.
Speaking from Carnforth Grants Shapps MP said:
“I think Lancaster leads the way almost like the entrepreneurial capital of Britain, I think it has been in the past and it’s coming through again.”
“I’m part through a thousand mile tour post budget to talk to businesses who are creating jobs, find out what the magic formula is for them, why it’s working and what help they have received from the budget and what they think about it. This is an amazing company, go into the warehouse and into the showroom and see some fabulous flooring.”

"We have a number of excellent businesses here in Morecambe & Lunesdale who will benefit from the fact that the Heysham M6 Link road is being built. The message I want to get out is that we are open for business here in Morecambe & Lunesdale.”
This high profile visit comes weeks after the Prime Minister visited White Lund to announce that the Heysham M6 Link Road will be built, the Chancellor Rt. Hon. George Osborne MP visited DST Engineering and businesses in Bare.
