Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has welcomed the Secretary of State for Transport’s announcement that Virgin Trains will continue to run the West Coast Mainline for two years and nine months.
The new deal will see Virgin continue to provide vital passenger journeys between London, Scotland and Wales as the government forges ahead with its multi-billion pound investment to improve and maintain our railways
There will be £35 Million worth of improvements including an additional 5,500 more standard class seats Improvements to the lo service locally includes additional parking and free wifi at Lancaster, a commitment to divert 95% of waste from landfill to recycling in addition to new community champions to lead relationships with communities in Lancaster and Morecambe & Lunesdale.

“I am pleased the Secretary of State has made this announcement, I am particularly pleased that a number of first class carriages are to be converted to provide an additional 5,500 standard class seats as well as additional parking for commuters from Morecambe & Lunesdale at Lancaster station."
