David Morris MP has today welcomed news that more people are in work in Morecambe & Lunesdale. The latest figures released from the Office of National Statistics show that in Morecambe & Lunesdale 385 more people are in work than they were in December 2009, 464 more people are in work than in April 2009 and 94 more people than in March 2014.
Nationally, Employment is up 283,000 on the quarter, the largest quarterly rise on record. Unemployment has reduced to 6.8% which is the lowest level for 5 years

“When the previous Labour Government left office, they left the economy in a mess, George Osborne has been fixing that mess with a long term economic plan. More people in Morecambe & Lunesdale are now in work than there were in December 2009 and more people are in work than when the previous labour Government left office.”
“That means more people in Morecambe & Lunesdale are bringing home a pay packet, which is news that I welcome.”
“The £124.5 Million Heysham M6 Link Road will also bring with it more employment, just last month, I found out that 45 previously unemployed people have been employed constructing the road and three of our wards are now on the Assisted Areas Map.”
