David Morris MP is supporting National Apprenticeship Week which runs until Friday 7th March.
Over recent years the number of apprentices in Morecambe & Lunesdale has significantly increased. In 2009/10 the number of apprentices in Morecambe & Lunesdale was 560 and the most recent figures from 2012/13 show that the number of apprentices have more than doubled to 1,130. In 2011 – 12 the number of apprentices in the North West increased by 88.9 % which means 88,910 new apprentices starts.
David Morris MP said:
“Apprenticeships are an excellent way to get young people into work and to learn a skill. I talk regularly to businesses who employ apprentices and they tell me they are an essential part of their business model.”
“I would encourage any business to consider employing apprentices.”
David will also be hosting an apprenticeship event at Heysham Power Station on Friday in association with Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce.
