The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP, David Morris, has signed an amendment to the Queen’s speech that will go before the House of Commons tomorrow (Wednesday 15th May 2013)
The Amendment calls for a referendum on the UK’s membership to the European Union and has been tabled by John Baron MP (Con, Basildon and Billericay.) The amendment reads:
Line 5 at end add “but respectfully regret that an EU referendum bill was not included in the Gracious Speech.”
Speaking from Westminster, David Morris MP said:
“When the UK joined what was the EC, the purpose of Europe was to create a trading union. Unfortunately, the European Union as it is now has evolved into an organisation that has an impact on almost everything, creating far too much red tape. I support an ‘in/out’ referendum and I will be supporting the amendment when it goes before the House on Wednesday.”
