Today the unemployment figures for June 2015 have been released by the House of Commons library. In June 2015 the number of people who are unemployed in Morecambe and Lunesdale is 240 lower than in June 2014 and 10 lower than in May 2015.
Speaking after the announcement David Morris MP said:
‘After a positive budget last week it is great to see unemployment figures continuing to drop and more people in work. The announcements made to increase the minimum wage to a living wage of £9 by 2020 by the chancellor last week will also have a huge positive impact on my constituents.
The drop in people claiming unemployment benefit is a credit to the fantastic staff at Morecambe Job centre who work tirelessly to support people into work’.
