David Morris MP has today welcomed the £5 million pounds that has been allocated to Lancashire County Council for repair work following storm Desmond, especially at Loyn Bridge in Gressingham.
In a written Parliamentary Question David Morris MP asked:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what information his Department holds on the progress of repairs to the Loyn Bridge in Gressingham in the Lune Valley in Morecambe and Lunesdale constituency.
In response Transport Minister Andrew Jones MP said:
Progress in respect to the repairs to the Loyn Bridge following damage caused by the winter storms is entirely a matter for Lancashire County Council as local highway authority. The Department for Transport has provided £5 million funding to the Council and they will undertake repairs to the bridge as soon as practicable.
Following the response David Morris MP said:
‘I am delighted that this Government has given £5million to Lancashire County Council to repair Gressingham Bridge which is a vital access route across the Lune Valley. I hope that this allows the County Council to complete the work efficiently so the bridge can re-open as soon as possible.’
