David Morris MP has welcomed news that central Government will deliver 228 affordable homes through the £6.9 Million 2011 – 2015 Affordable Housing Programme. Of the 228 homes, 27 of them will be in rural areas.
The 2015 – 2018 budget hopes to directly address affordable housing in rural communities.
Government Minister Kris Hopkins said:
“ The Homes and Communities Agency’s funding prospectus for the 2015-18 Affordable Homes Programme sets out how the Agency will continue to pay particular attention to the importance of delivery in rural areas in providing funding. The work of the Agency is also supported by a network of rural champions. The National Planning Policy Framework and Rural Exception Sites also help to address the housing needs of rural communities.”
Speaking from Westminster David Morris MP said:
“It is really important to me that affordable housing is built here in Morecambe & Lunesdale which is why I fought so hard for the Chatsworth Gardens development to go ahead. I’m pleased Government has a strategy to build affordable homes in rural areas which I hope will allow people who have grown up in our rural areas to continue to live there.”
