On Friday I visited the Broadway building in Morecambe, now that construction is coming to an end and the insides are being prepared for people to start moving in. The building is absolutely fantastic inside and MH Stainton have really done the whole of Morecambe proud with how fantastic the building looks. I was pleased to meet with Michael Stainton at the site and be given a tour of some of the apartments in the building, and I was really impressed with the quality of the apartments on offer. The Broadway has now become one of Morecambe’s flagship buildings again and I think that having a high quality local contractor take on the project has ensured that the building has been re-built to a height specification and ensured that the building remains of high quality for the future. I hope that MH Stainton are able to take on other flagship projects in the area and look forward to hearing of their plans for their next project in Morecambe and Lunesdale in the future.

With the Prime Minister promising to secure Brexit by the 31st October, I thought this week I would reconfirm my position on Brexit before any votes on our departure from the European Union in the Autumn. I have always been clear through my voting record that I would prefer to leave the EU with a Withdrawal Agreement but I believe that leaving without a deal would be preferable to not leaving at all. The British people must be able to trust their politicians to deliver on their promises and the UK will be leaving the EU on 31 October whether or not a deal has been reached. I am also confident that the UK would be able to thrive in the long-term. I am hopeful that a further deal can be reached by the new Prime Minister and I will continue to support a deal in Parliament. I want to make clear that I am committed 100% to ensuring that we leave the European Union and I will continue to vote to deliver the will of the British people.

Our local business are doing great things and trading all over the world. In the climate of Brexit it is more important than ever that we as a Government are supporting local businesses who want to export. Between January and March 2019 9,898 businesses in the North West were exporting and in the In the 12 months to March 2019, goods exports from the North West were worth £28.0 billion. There are huge opportunities out there for businesses all across Morecambe and Lunesdale and now we have a great network of trade offices all over the UK I want to help businesses in the constituency access this network and enter new markets. If you are a business who is thinking of starting to export your goods from this area into another market please get in touch. Many firms from the UK are already making a success of exporting, I want to make sure that we are making the most out of the global market and am here to help if you are a business who would like more information on how to access foreign markets and am here to put you in touch with the Trade Specialists in the North West.
