Today the CQC have rated the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust as Good overall and Outstanding for the care they give.
This is a huge improvement from being placed into special measures and rated inadequate in June 2014. And an improvement from where the Trust was in December 2015 when it was taken out of special measures and rated requires improvement.
David Morris MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale said:
‘I am delighted by the incredible news that the Trust has been rated good by the CQC. Every time I visit the Trust I can see improvements in the care being given and a drive and determination by staff to deliver outstanding care. After receiving sustained negative reports for a considerable length of time it takes a great deal of resolve from staff to pick themselves up and strive to ensure they are delivering outstanding care. Today is a huge day for the Trust and each and every staff member who works at our hospitals deserves a great deal of credit for their hard work and determination to ensure the care we all get when we use the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is outstanding. I have tabled a parliamentary motion in Parliament today thanking all of the staff for their amazing work, and to show them how proud I am of them and my Hospital Trust’
