The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has said that Labour Leader Ed Miliband's suggestion of fixing energy prices will damage investment in new nuclear builds and could even risk the building of Heysham 3.
David Morris MP said:
“This is obviously an idea that hasn’t been thought through, price fixing energy prices will endanger investment in nuclear and will risk the construction of new nuclear builds which includes Heysham 3 in my constituency.”
“A large number of my constituents work at Heysham Power Station. Heysham 3 will bring even more jobs to the constituency, therefore I cannot support anything that will jeopardise that many jobs.”
In 2011 Heysham was named by the Government as one of eight sites where a new nuclear build is planned.
