The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has hit out at Ed Miliband’s price freeze policy saying that it has caused “pandemonium.” Speaking in the House of Commons today (Wednesday) David Morris MP said that because of Ed Miliband’s price freeze announcement, “overnight a billion pounds was wiped off the stock market in energy.”
Later adding:
“The local economy would feel hard hit by it.”
“What is the opposition saying to my constituents? There’s going to be a price freeze, there’s going to be a wages freeze on their wages because that’s what would happen.”
On the subject of green levies David Morris said:
“We must take down green levies, they are a blight on struggling families The average British family pays £112 a year extra because of green levies and I am delighted that the Prime Minister is taking action on this.”
“ We all support low carbon energy, production in this field is great but there is no point in confusing saving the planet with taxing people to death.”
Intervening Col. Bob Stewart MP called for more nuclear power stations saying” It’s quite clear to me from what you have said and what I’ve heard that we need more nuclear power stations.” A point that David Morris agreed with.
The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP last week wrote to Ed Miliband expressing his opposition to the policy.
