Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has welcomed news that the number of apprentice start ups in Morecambe & Lunesdale has doubled when compared with figures from 2009/10.
In 2009/10 the number of apprentices was 560 in Morecambe & Lunesdale, the latest figures show that figure has more than doubled to 1,130 in 2012/13. In 2006/07 there was only 260 apprentices.
Speaking from his constituency David Morris MP said:
“This really is excellent news, encouraging young people to take an apprenticeship is an ideal way of reducing youth unemployment in Morecambe & Lunesdale.”
“I will continue to ask businesses to take on more apprentices and encourage young people to apply for an apprenticeship.”
“I am delighted that there are currently 1,130 new apprentices compare that to 2006 when there was only 260 under the previous Labour Government.”
Last week David Morris congratulated Chancellor George Osborne for helping to reduce youth unemployment in Morecambe & Lunesdale.
