The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has welcomed news that unemployment has dropped in the Morecambe & Lunesdale constituency.
According to figures released by the Office of National Statistics there is now fewer people unemployed than there was in January 2012. Unemployment in Morecambe & Lunesdale currently accounts for 5.2% of the economically active population of the constituency.
Speaking from Westminster David Morris MP said:
“I am always pleased to see a fall in unemployment in my constituency. We must not become complacent and I continue to promote our local business. I hope that the M6 Link Road will bring further employment prospects in the constituency and with Centrica commencing gas production in Morecambe Bay I hope that there will be employment opportunities out at sea. The Government has a focus on apprenticeships and I hope that this will encourage businesses to take on apprentices.”
