The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has met with the First Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo and other senior officials to discuss a Bill that David will introduce to the House of Commons in October.
Under the Ten Minute Rule, David will bring ‘The Maritime Borders Bill’ to the House of Commons which he hopes MP’s will support.
David is currently visiting Gibraltar as part of a UK parliamentary delegation. The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP will join other Members of Parliament and dignitaries at the celebrations at Casemates Square today, when Prime Minister Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP will address the people of Gibraltar via screen link to celebrate Gibraltar day.
Gibraltar Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the first ever referendum when on 10th September 1967 the people of Gibraltar voted to remain under British sovereignty with some institutions of self-government.
Speaking from Gibraltar David said:
“On 16th October I will bring a Bill before the House of Commons called the Maritime Borders Bill, the Government in Gibraltar are aware of my Bill and I hope MP’s will support it.”
“I am looking forward to celebrating Gibraltar Day later on with the people of Gibraltar and watching the Prime Minister’s message.”
