David Morris re-adopted in Morecambe and Lunesdale

Following a meeting of the Morecambe and Lunesdale Conservative Association on Saturday (22nd April) David Morris MP was unanimously adopted as the Conservative candidate for the General Election on the 8th June.

Speaking following his re-adoption David Morris MP said:

‘I am delighted to have been unanimously re-adopted by local Conservative Members in Morecambe and Lunesdale to continue with my plans to increase prosperity in Morecambe and Lunesdale. This election will be about securing a strong and stable leadership nationally to ensure that Brexit can be delivered but will also be about strong leadership locally to ensure our area continues to prosper as it has over the last 7 years.

Since my Election we have secured over a billion pounds of Government funding locally, the link road has been completed, the Hospital has been brought out of special measures and is now good, and the prosperity in the area is rising. I do not rest on my laurels and my past victories of securing the Link road but want to press ahead to the future. I will continue to support the energy sector locally and ensure that Heysham 3 is built as soon as possible.  I will also continue to work with local businesses to secure a much needed Enterprise zone so our businesses have space to expand and create more employment. The Enterprise Zone is being held back by Labour control on the County Council. It is only with a Conservative County Council a Conservative MP and a Conservative Government that our area will continue to develop. ‘
