Following the publication of the latest CQC report this morning, where the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust were awarded a rating of Good overall and outstanding for care, David Morris MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale visited the Royal Lancaster Infirmary this afternoon.
The purpose of the visit was to meet as many members of staff as possible to thank them for all of their hard work and congratulate them for achieving such fantastic results from the CQC.
Speaking after his visit David Morris MP said:
‘It was an honour to visit the Royal Lancaster Infirmary this afternoon to personally thank staff from all departments in the Trust for all of the hard work and dedication they put in to delivering care.
The Chief Inspector said that today’s report showed a ‘truly remarkable turnaround’, and that would not have been possible if it had not been for the hard work of our fantastic NHS staff. There was a real buzz around the RLI today and it was brilliant to see so many smiling faces, as the staff had been recognised for the turnaround in services.
I wanted to make sure I was there at the hospital today to thank all of the staff not just on behalf of myself but on behalf of all of my constituents in Morecambe and Lunesdale who use the services and I know that this result has only spurred on the staff to continue to achieve.
Our Trust is now rated with some of the best hospitals in the County, and the implementation of new ideas that have been introduced here are now being shared across the Country. I have also reiterated my full support to Chief Executive Jackie Daniel, and again gave my full backing to the Trust as it continues to deliver outstanding care.’
