Around 33, 546 people in Morecambe & Lunesdale are benefitting from the biggest income tax cut in a generation this April. On 6th April, Conservatives in Government are increasing the amount of money people can earn before paying any income tax to £9,440. 24 million people across Britain will pay up to £600 less income tax this year than in 2010.

Fewer People Unemployed

The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has welcomed news that unemployment has dropped in the Morecambe & Lunesdale constituency. According to figures released by the Office of National Statistics there is now fewer people unemployed than there was in January 2012. Unemployment in Morecambe & Lunesdale currently accounts for 5.2% of the economically active population of the constituency.

Secretary of State To Consult Virgin

The Secretary of State for Transport Patrick Mc Loughlin will consult Virgin Trains on the possibility of trains taking on and dropping off passengers at Carnforth Station. David Morris MP has previously met with Virgin Trains and Network Rail to ascertain if it would be possible to pick up passengers when the trains ‘stable’ at Carnforth.
