David Morris MP has welcomed the Government’s commitment to creating apprenticeships at the launch of National Apprenticeship Week 2016. The growing number of people in Morecambe and Lunesdale starting apprenticeships demonstrates that we are delivering on our manifesto commitments.
On Friday David Morris MP met with a team of volunteers at the New Inn in Yealand so they could share their plans for a community pub. The steering committee members were able to show David around the pub as it has been left empty now for 18 months and share with him the plans for the future.
A referendum has been called on our membership of the European Union for Thursday 23rd June 2016. I know in Morecambe and Lunesdale there are strong views on both sides of the argument and I am proud to be part of a Government that is giving people a say on something that we have not been able to vote on since 1975. No-one under the age of 58 has even had a say on our relationship with the European Union and I am glad that this is now going to change.
David Morris MP wrote to OFGEM following the decision by Electricity North West not to pay compensation to those people in the Lancaster district who were effected by power outages in December. As OFGEM are the regulator Electricity North West reports to they have the final say on decisions which are made by Electricity North West. David Morris, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, visited a Lancaster electricity substation on Friday which was affected by Storm Desmond when power was lost due to floodwater breaching flood defences last month.
