David Morris MP has tabled a Parliamentary motion in support of residents from Cowan Bridge and surrounding areas.
The residents are united in their opposition to the so-called option 5 being considered currently by Lancaster City Council which would see 5,000 homes being built in the village. According to the consultation document, option 5 may be built in the North East of the district.
In the motion, the Morecambe & Lunesdale MP says that option 5 is a “wholly unsuitable option” and there has been “no assessment” of infrastructure, public services, school places or flood risk.
The full motion reads:
“That this House notes that option five in Lancaster City Council's future housing strategy is to build 5,000 homes near Cowan Bridge; further notes that Cowan Bridge is in proximity to the Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and to the Lake District National Park; further notes that no assessments of infrastructure, public services, school places or flood risk have been made; and deplores Lancaster City Council's option five as a wholly unsuitable option for the rural area around Cowan Bridge.”
David has met with local residents and spoken at a public meeting in Cowan Bridge.
