Last week MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, David Morris was invited to the Isle of Man as a guest of Chief Minister Alan Bell MHK.
David met with the Chief Minister to discuss the Isle of Man's relationship with the North West and with Morecambe in particular due to the ferry route with Heysham. The Isle of Man are keen to enhance their economic connection with the North West and Mr Morris was invited to meet the Chief Minister to discuss ways in which this could work and to make connections and friendships which can be built on in the future.
Speaking after the visit David Morris MP said: ' It was a hugely productive visit to the Isle of Man and I was pleased to be invited by the Chief Minister himself as this shows his commitment to working with Morecambe and Lunesdale in the future. One of the main things we discussed was the link road and how this will benefit the Isle of Man immensely when it is finished. On the back of this we discussed my plans for an Enterprise Zone in the White Lund area, an idea which Chief Minister Bell supported. the Chief Minister would like to see companies headquartered in the Isle of Man and then their factories and storage facilities be built in places like White Lund where there is a larger workforce than there is in the Isle of Man.
'This visit was the start of a great friendship between myself and the Isle of Man and as this friendship grows so will the economic benefits for the area'.
