Member of the Constitutional Reform Select Committee David Morris MP has described Labour Leader Ed Miliband’s suggestion of holding PMQ’s for the public as “preposterous.”
In a BBC interview over the weekend, Miliband suggested that he would put in a formal request to the Speaker of the House of Commons.
David Morris MP said:
“This is a preposterous suggestion, it is the founding principle of our democracy that each constituency has an elected MP and that elected MP can ask questions on behalf of constituents at PMQ’s.”
“I have asked questions on behalf of a number of constituents from NHS issues to the regulation of Carbon Dioxide in drinks. The fact that Miliband ignores the issues of the day at PMQ’s and chooses to ask questions that suit his agenda doesn’t mean that we should change the whole system.”
“This is nothing more than a gimmick from a failing Labour leader, leading a failing party.”
