During today’s oral questions to the Chancellor David Morris MP asked:
‘Thank you Mr Speaker, my local council keep bleating on about cuts saying it’s going to affect everybody that’s actually there, but on the front page of the newspaper a management consultancy company that they brought in said there’s going to be 10,000 jobs created over the next [16 years] in my Constituency and the region, would the {aside :yes very lucky}, because we have got a Chancellor.
Would he agree with me that his economic policies have put that on track, so that we are actually going forward in my area of the world and making the area a better for the people that live there? ‘
In response Chancellor George Osborne said:
‘Well my Honourable Friend is absolutely right as a result of a combination of him being a very effective local MP, and the fact we have a Conservative Prime Minister and Conservative Government. We are delivering more jobs into his part of Lancashire. Indeed I remember visiting with him the work being done on the link road to the Port that for decades, including when there were Labour MP’s for the Constituency, they campaigned for and never were delivered. Now it is actually being built and delivered as a result of his local efforts.’
